Preparation for emergencies

Emergency situations always come unexpectedly. Once an emergency has occurred, every minute counts. The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Relief therefore recommends having a personal emergency supply in the house at all times so that you can act immediately if necessary. These supplies include food, a first-aid kit, various hygiene articles and other products that can be of particular use in an emergency. In addition, it is advisable to prepare for a possible power failure, to upgrade one’s home in the area of fire protection and also to make preparations to be able to receive information and warnings via radio at any time.

Furthermore, it is advisable to always have important documents and identification papers as well as personal emergency luggage (e.g. makeshift protective clothing, torch, pocket knife, etc.) to hand.

As a local supplier, we are aware of our responsibility towards our customers. That is why we carry a large number of these items at permanently low prices. Make sure you and your relatives are prepared in good time for an emergency. Better prepared – with KODi!

Tips for precautionary measures in private households:

Basic supply:

At least 1.5 litres of water per person and an additional 0.5 litres of water for food preparation are recommended. In addition to mineral water, fruit juices and beverages that can be stored for longer periods are also suitable. In case of a power failure, all food should have a longer shelf life without refrigeration. Also consider special dietary requirements (e.g. babies, diabetics) and think about your pets.

Medicine cabinet:

Is the medicine cabinet complete and are all medicines still well within the expiration date? Make sure that medicines are not accessible to children.

Hygiene articles:

Lack of hygiene can be a trigger for various diseases. Therefore, always keep sufficient amounts of hygiene articles in stock and dispose of your waste quickly and safely with the help of rubbish bags.

Fire protection:

Is there a fire extinguisher within reach? Does the smoke detector have a full battery? Remember to check your fire safety precautions regularly.

Power outage:

A power failure always catches us unprepared. Candles, matches, torches and batteries provide the first remedy.

Radio:

Keep up to date with information and warnings in case of an emergency. In the event of a power failure, battery- or accumulator-powered radios are suitable, for example.

Document security:

A document folder close at hand with all important identification papers saves valuable minutes in an emergency. Also inform your relatives where they can find the folder.

Personal emergency luggage:

Whether makeshift protective clothing (e.g. rubber boots), disposable tableware, clothes or blankets. Choose a backpack instead of a suitcase so that you have both hands free when carrying it.
